We are lucky enough to work with some amazing local venues in Guelph to showcase the awesomeness of the 2018 CFSW festival! Learn a bit about them here, and check out Google Maps for a view of all festival venues.
10C Shared Space
42 Carden St
10C is a prime location for the festival this year, where we will hold preliminary bouts, workshops, and a Halloween Party! The recently renovated four-story building has a large elevator, making all the floors physically accessible.
10C Shared Space is the hub for community changemakers in Guelph. We are a platform for those working across sectors and engaging in collaborative work to improve our community. Our tangible offering is downtown coworking and event meeting space, offering students, professionals and researchers working within Guelph a place to gather, exchange ideas and work for change. Our immeasurable benefits extend to the deepening of community relationships, the opening of new opportunities, and discovery of new ways to solve problems. People work, meet, eat, create and brainstorm together at 10C.
41 Quebec St, 2nd floor
The eBar has been home to the Guelph Poetry Slam for many years, and will be one of two locations for our preliminary bouts! It is part of The Bookshelf interconnected meeting place, featuring a book store, indie cinema, eBar, live music, author events, and food & dining all in one location! We regret that the eBar is not physically accessible, and has a large stairwell up to the performance space on the second floor. This venue is actively working to become accessible.
The Bookshelf is a downtown meeting place. Our book store offers current and backlist fiction and non-fiction; greeting cards for all occasions; a huge magazine rack; tables of bargain books; and a staff of book-lovers at your service. Our rep cinema shows excellent wide-release, art-house, and foreign films. Our eBar juggles a calendar full of live music, DJ dance nights, and art openings and serves dinner every night.
Guelph Youth Music Centre
75 Cardigan St
Home to our semi-finals slam tournament bouts, the Guelph Youth Music Centre (GYMC) is a unique facility that educates, enriches and fosters the development of our youth through music and the arts. The space is physically accessible including an elevator and accessible bathrooms.
GYMC is located in Goldie Mill Park beside the ruins of the old mill situated on the Speed River. The centre is committed to establishing and maintaining a safe, inclusive, equitable, and welcoming learning and working environment for all members of the GYMC community, regardless of real or perceived sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.
River Run Centre
35 Woolwich St
Our venue for slam tournament finals and poet of honour showcase is the River Run Centre. Guelph’s signature performing arts centre overlooks the picturesque Speed River in the City’s historic downtown core. River Run Centre was conceived and built by the people of Guelph for the benefit of the community and designed to serve as a premier stage for concerts, musicals, plays, dance, family shows and much more.
River Run Centre is fully accessible for patrons and performers. Call the Box Office to request accessible seating. Assistive Listening Devices are available at the Coat Check (free).
