Three weeks from now, The Dildettes (Cathy Petch, David Bateman, Regie Cabico) will be joining Megan Lane and Kris Demeanor on stage for our Festival of Health Research showcase RELEASE!

That means three weeks from now you’ll get to see a special brand of hilarious weirdness of which these three can only be described as masters.

To give you a little taste, here’s a video that can’t be described, filmed in Cathy Petch’s living room, showcasing some of the stranger musical talents that exist in the spoken word community (and some of the wicked weirdness you might see at Festival of Health Research this year!)

Cathy Petch will be performing with The Dildettes on Thursday, October 16, during RELEASE! at Victoria Event Centre, starting at 11:00 PM.

The Dildettes are a comedy poetry troupe whose work runs the gamut from the irreverent to the profane. Highlights include five quick rounds from the ever-popular Haiku Dildo Sonata and the hilarious prop laden Dildo Diaries – complete with flashlight and talking didlo! Regie Cabico (Washington D.C.) Cathy Petch (Toronto), and David Bateman (Toronto) are all spoken word artists whose have presented their individual work internationally. Born in the back seat of a taxi after an especially raucous night of poetic bliss, the Dildettes form a wicked threesome whose work, individually and collectively, pushes the boundaries of polite poetic play and poses the ever popular saying, “A day without poetry is like a day without a dildo.”

Cathy Petch is an award winning playwright, spoken word artist, haiku deathmaster and musical saw player for The Silverhearts.  She has several handsome chapbooks and most recently published her poetry book “Late Night Knife Fights” with LyricalMyrical Press. She has been published by Descant, The Toronto Quarterly and Joypuke journals. She is a member of “TheDildettes” a queer spoken word/comedy troupe along with Regie Cabico and David Bateman. Petch was a member of both the 2011 and 2012 Toronto Poetry Slam Teams. She is happiest onstage. Find her at www.cathypetch.com.
